Concentration

Analyses 

We perform chemical analysis (concentrations from % to ppb level) of various type of material such as rocks, soils, sediments, water…..

Depending on your needs we can measure major elements (Si, Al, Fe, Mg,…), minor elements such as metals, trace elements such as Rare Earth Elements (REE) or ultra trace elements.

Major and minor elements are analysed by ICP-OES
Trace and ultra trace elements are measures by ICP-MS or HR-ICP-MS

Isotope compositions

Radiogenic and stable isotopes

Sedisor is specialised in isotope composition analyses using radiogenic isotopes and stable isotopes.

We routinely measure Sr, Nd, Hf and Pb isotopes in silicates, carbonates or biological matrix using Thermo-Ionization Mass Spectrometry techniques or Multi collection ICP-MS techniques.

We also perform stable isotope analyses on carbonates, water and organic matter for Oxygen, Carbon and Nitrogen stable isotopes.

Geochronology – Isotope Stratigraphy

We offer geochronology services using several isotopic approaches such as:

Depending on your needs we can measure major elements (Si, Al, Fe, Mg,…), minor elements such as metals, trace elements such as Rare Earth Elements (REE) or ultra trace elements.

Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr isochron methods:

we perform very high precision concentration analyses using isotope dilution on whole rocks and separated minerals associated to high precision isotope composition data to establish crystallisation ages of magmatic material.

Sr Isotope Stratigraphy (SIS):

SIS is a chemical stratigraphy tool well established since the 80ies (Elderfield, 1986; McArthur, 1994). The method relies on the facts that:

(1) Sr incorporated into carbonate structure (substituting to Ca atoms) will have the same Sr isotope composition (87Sr/86Sr ratios) as the fluid from which it precipitated and,

(2) The 87Sr/86Sr of Sr dissolved in the world’s ocean has varied through time.

87Sr/86Sr ratios measured on carbonate samples can therefore be used to date and correlate marine carbonate worldwide (Figure 1).

O Isotope Stratigraphy:

We can perform O isotope analyses on foraminifera to establish model ages in sediment cores.
